LFG 2026 conference!

The Lexical-Functional Grammar (LFG) Conference 2026 brings together researchers and practitioners working on formal, typological, and computational approaches to grammar within the LFG framework and its broader “spirit”—a lexicalist, parallel, and constraint-based view of language. The conference provides a unique platform to explore non-derivational approaches, where grammar is conceived as the interaction of constraints across multiple structural levels, including syntax, grammatical relations, semantics, and discourse.

LFG 2026 aims to foster meaningful exchange and collaboration among linguists, formal theorists, typologists, and computational researchers. It encourages both established and emerging perspectives that deepen our understanding of grammar and its interfaces.

The scientific programme will feature 45-minute oral presentations (30 minutes talk + 15 minutes discussion) as well as poster sessions, showcasing original and unpublished work. Contributions may present completed studies or work in progress, spanning descriptive, theoretical, formal, or computational dimensions.

Invited speakers:

  • Rachel Nordlinger, Professor of Linguistics and Director of the Research Unit for Indigenous Language, University of Melbourne, Australia.
  • Ash Asudeh, Professor of Linguistics, University of Rochester, the USA.

Dates:

The conference will be held July 28–30, 2026.

Pre- and post-conference activities are planned for July 27th and July 31st.
